Happy Birthday, Edict of Milan!

The Catholic Bishops in Europe are marking the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan (and identifying it as a milestone in the history of legal protection for religious freedom).  Time flies!

While it is true that Freedom of Religion is "a resource capable of creating peace both in hearts and between nations", the purpose of which is to "live and contribute to the good of all individually and in community", it is important to note that only The True God can endow us with our right to Religious Liberty. The purpose of Religious Liberty is so that we can know, Love, and serve God through The Word of Love Made Flesh, The Truth of Love, our Savior, Jesus The Christ, in this world, and hopefully, be with God and our beloved forever, in Heaven. At the end of the Day, only Christ, The Truth of Love, can set us free.

It was a nice run while it lasted, but the Edict of Milan will officially be revoked when Obamacare gets enacted next week.

While I am no expert in Roman law, whatever protection afforded to religious freedom by the Edict of Milan was arguably undone by the Edict of Thessalonica, delivered by Theodosius I, Gratian, and Valentinian II in 380.
