I am wondering what Pope Francis meant when he said "when the thing became a little dangerous" and by "A Church that is poor", does he mean poor in spirit and thus recognizing God's Grace and Mercy are necessary for our Salvation?

I suspect that he said "when the thing became a little dangerous" he meant dangerous to him because it was becoming clear that he would be burdened with the papacy. I also suspect that by his example, he will encourage all of us to live with less in terms of material wealth and comfort but he also clearly means "poor in spirit ... recognizing God's Grace and Mercy are necessary for our Salvation."
