Of course I'm grateful that Rick publicized my book (and that it found at least one new reader!--thank you, sincerely). And, having read the others and being of the view that they're both strong contributions to law and religion scholarship, I'm grateful that he publicized them as well. I'm not sure which two of the three of us are supposed to be "sworn enemies of Catholic legal thought." Certainly I attended no such ceremony! In any event, without pronouncing either on 1) what constitutes "Catholic legal thought" and the degree of diversity that this category involves or 2) the views or statements of individual authors about particular issues or people, I am pretty sure that 1) Andy and Brian's books are serious contributions in the field and should be of interest and value even to those who may disagree with particular conclusions within them, 2) neither of those books themselves seem terribly hostile to Catholic legal thought to me as such, whatever any of them (or I) may have written elsewhere, and 3) in any event Rick isn't endorsing everything in them. As for my own book, probably the less said the better--except that it's currently on sale for a fine price at Amazon.
Catholic Law Student commented on 'Three Books'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d834515a9a69e2017d3ea179fc970c2012-12-09T15:23:15Z2012-12-09T15:23:15ZCatholic Law StudentRoll Tide!
If you were one of the young Catholic scholars repeatedly attacked and mocked by Leiter, you might find such expressions gratitude a bit disturbing.

Just remember that there is nothing that is hidden that will not be revealed in The Light of Love. "Everything that rises will converge", in God's Time.
But aren't two of the authors sworn enemies of Catholic legal thought?

Perhaps I'm being daft.

I fully understand that in the academy one's career depends significantly on establishing relationships of mutual praise and admiration. But when one of the authors you high-give (Leiter) has tried to destroy the careers of young Catholic academics, I have to shake my head.
